The Clarisys Technology

A Different Approach to Reproducing Music

At Clarisys Audio, we build loudspeakers using a fundamentally different principle than most conventional designs. While traditional loudspeakers rely on cone drivers and dome tweeters, we use full-range ribbon drivers, ultra-thin, lightweight diaphragms suspended in powerful magnetic fields.

This approach offers several key advantages:

1. Massively Reduced Moving Mass

Conventional speaker cones are typically made from paper, plastic, or metal — materials that require voice coils and suspension systems to operate. In contrast, our ribbon drivers are made from extremely thin aluminium traces on a Kapton film, or pure aluminium itself, weighing a fraction of what even the lightest cone driver does.

Less moving mass means faster acceleration, quicker stops, and finer resolution of microdetails.

2. Uniform Force Distribution

In traditional speakers, a voice coil moves a cone by pushing at a single point. This can lead to flexing, break-up modes, and uneven energy transfer. In a ribbon driver, the electrical signal is distributed evenly across the entire diaphragm, resulting in:

  • Near perfect pistonic motion
  • Lower distortion
  • Greater precision at both low and high volumes

3. Line Source Radiation with Bipole Design

All Clarisys speakers radiate as line sources, meaning their output does not drop off in the same way as point-source speakers. This reduces interaction with floor and ceiling reflections and allows for more consistent sound throughout the room.

In our true bipole ribbon systems, sound is radiated equally from the front and rear of the diaphragm — in phase — recreating the way music exists in real acoustic spaces: open, dynamic, and immersive.

4. Ribbon Bass — Not Just Treble

Many speakers use ribbon tweeters for high frequencies but fall back to cones for midrange and bass. Clarisys midrange/treble ribbons extend far lower in some models as low as 150 Hz — and in all our designs, we offer dedicated ribbon bass and infrasonic subwoofer drivers. This creates a uniform voicing and coherence across the entire frequency spectrum.

5. No Box Resonances

Box speakers inherently suffer from internal reflections and cabinet coloration. Our open dipole and bipole designs eliminate the enclosure, allowing the drivers to breathe and behave more naturally, free from the compression and boxy overtones that plague all conventional systems.

6. Mechanical Precision and Stability

All Clarisys loudspeakers are housed in precision-milled aluminium enclosures — not wood or MDF. This provides unmatched structural rigidity, reducing unwanted vibrations and preserving the clarity of the signal.

A Different Philosophy

Clarisys Audio does not claim to make the right loudspeaker for everyone — but we do pursue a different path: one where the laws of physics, material science, and listening experience come together to recreate music as faithfully, effortlessly, and emotionally as possible.

For many, it’s not just a different sound it’s a revelation.
